Onondaga County Justice Center and Syracuse Inmate Population

The Onondaga County Correctional Facility, known as the Justice Center, is the main jail for the county. It sits in Syracuse and holds pre-trial detainees and sentenced inmates. People serving one year or less stay at the county level. Those sentenced to more than one year are transferred to DOCCS state prisons. The facility provides visitation and inmate services.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office is led by the 62nd sheriff of the county. The department has been accredited since 1992. FOIL requests for jail records go to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office. Written requests must describe the records clearly. The office has five business days to acknowledge your request. Copy fees are 25 cents per page. If the request takes more than two hours of staff time, additional fees may apply.
