The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office operates two correctional facilities. The Riverhead Correctional Facility is at 100 Center Drive South, Riverhead, NY 11901. The Yaphank Correctional Facility is at 200 Glover Drive, Yaphank, NY 11980. General information: (631) 852-5600. Central Records: (631) 852-2241 (open 24/7). The department has three main divisions: Corrections, Police, and Operations.
The sheriff's office maintains safe and secure custody and control of inmates and pre-trial detainees. Both facilities house people awaiting trial and those sentenced to one year or less. Medical, dental, and mental health services are provided. The Civil Enforcement Bureau handles property executions, income executions, warrants to remove, and service of process from its office at 360 Yaphank Avenue, Yaphank, NY 11980.
The sheriff's office also provides visitation at the correctional facilities. Visitation runs Tuesday through Saturday with four sessions each day. You must be on the approved visitor list. Photo ID is required. Security screening applies to all visitors before entry.
Bail Information for Suffolk County Inmate Population
The bail information page spells out how to post bail for someone held in Suffolk County. You need the person's date of birth. The on-site process takes several hours to complete. Bail can be posted at two locations: Riverhead Correctional Facility is open 24/7 for bail. Yaphank Correctional Facility accepts bail from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. All bonds are accepted only at Riverhead.
Payment types include cash, bank checks, cashier checks, and credit cards. Credit card payments carry a 7 percent fee, and the total cannot go over $10,000. Checks must be made payable to "Sheriff of Suffolk County, N.Y." These rules are strict. Bring the right form of payment or you may be turned away.

Regular US Mail goes to: C/O Incarcerated Individual's Name, Suffolk County Correctional Facility, 110 Center Drive South, Riverhead, NY 11901. Only white envelopes are allowed. No colored envelopes, stamps, Polaroid pictures, pictures larger than 5 by 7 inches, or cards larger than 6 by 9 inches.
Securus provides phone services for inmate calls. Keefe Commissary Service manages inmate accounts. Deposits can be made by cash or credit and debit kiosks at the visiting lobbies, or online at www.AccessCorrections.com. There is a $100 limit per deposit, and a fee applies. These accounts let inmates purchase approved items from commissary.

The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office FOIL page explains how to request records. FOIL requests must be submitted in writing to: Freedom of Information Officer, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, 100 Center Dr., Riverhead, NY 11901. The sheriff's office can provide incarceration records only. For police reports, you need to contact the Suffolk County Police Department at (631) 862-6000.
The county must respond within five business days. Copy fees are 25 cents per page. If denied, you have the right to appeal. The Suffolk County Clerk maintains court and land records separately. The OCA Criminal History Record Search covers all 62 counties at $95 per search.
Under Correction Law §9, DOCCS removes certain non-violent offender data from its website three years after the person finishes their sentence and supervision. Records sealed under CPL §160.59 are also not available to the public.
